DEGREE CANDIDACY

Application for Degree Candidacy is a two step process:

Degree candidacy decisions are made based on the following options:

 

OPTION I – EARLY (Guaranteed)

Criteria: ACT ≥ 27 or SAT ≥ 1930 or top 10% in high school graduating class.

Process:

  • Submit the application and take the PCAT
  • Student is notified of the following expectations:
  • Earn minimum OU Retention and Combined Retention GPAs of 2.50
  • Earn a minimum 2.75 OU and Combined GPA in the pre-business 5 courses**
  • Complete ENGL 1213; COMM 1113 or 2613; MATH 2123; ACCT 2123; BC 2813 and B AD 1001 to meet prerequisites for upper division business enrollment.

OPTION II – ACHIEVEMENT (Guaranteed)

Criteria: Attain ≥ 3.20 GPA in the pre-business 5 courses**, four out of the five courses must be taken at OU

Process:

  • Submit the application and take the PCAT after completing the pre-business 5 courses**
  • Student is notified of the following expectations:
  • Earn minimum OU Retention and Combined Retention GPAs of 2.50
  • Complete ENGL 1213; COMM 1113 or 2613; MATH 2123; ACCT 2123; BC 2813 and B AD 1001 to meet prerequisites for upper division business enrollment.

OPTION III – REGULAR (Competitive)

Criteria: GPAs; work experience; leadership potential, extracurricular activities; ACT/SAT scores; high school rank and other indicators of success

Process:

  • Submit the application and take the PCAT after completing the pre-business 5 courses**
  • Earn minimum OU Retention and Combined Retention GPAs of 2.50
  • Application evaluated by the committee
  • Student is notified of decision
  • If granted permission, complete ENGL 1213; COMM 1113 or 2613; MATH 2123; ACCT 2123; BC 2813; and B AD 1001 to meet prerequisites for upper division business enrollment.
  • If denied permission, consideration should be given to changing major out of Price College of Business.
